XL in the shorts is the way to go, no band marks around waist. Still fits securely I'm a small to medium, the L i usually get are comfortable too so going up was a good decision. Wearing dry, to swim in them not so sure, on me they'd probably float away. Will I risk it? Yeah nah lol.
